FAQs

Let's answer your questions!

To ensure your first enzyme development project is a success, we’ve simplified the process into three easy steps:

    1. Assessing feasibility
Before starting any project, we conduct a free Fast Project Assessment — a preliminary evaluation to determine your project’s feasibility— so you can get an idea of your project’s outcome and decide if our solutions are right for you.

    1. Choosing a starting point
Do you need to find an enzyme? Do you already have an enzyme, but want to optimize it? Or are you still in the very early stages, trying to work out which chemical routes you should choose? Our team will help you figure out where to start.

  1. Determining IP
Whether you’re only interested in research use or securing an exclusive license for commercial development, our team will guide you in selecting the IP option that better fits your needs.

Timelines may vary depending on a case-by-case basis, but the minimum timelines for our services are:

  • Zymplifier: 5-10 business days
  • Enzyme Discovery: 1 month (only in silico); 2 months (with experimental validation)
  • Biomatched Kits: 5 business days.
  • Enzyme Optimization: 1 month (only in silico); 2 months (with experimental validation)

  • Zymplifier: List of 5-10 enzymatic reactions of interest (substrate & product)
  • Enzyme Discovery: 1 enzymatic reaction of interest (substrate & product)
  • Biomatched Kits: 1 enzymatic reaction of interest (substrate & product)
  • Enzyme Optimization: 1 enzyme sequence and additional experimental data (enzyme activity, expression…)

Yes. Our free Fast Project Assessment was designed to ensure complete transparency in the decision-making process. If your assessment predicts a low chance of success, you can choose to not move forward with your project.

Yes. We offer flexible IP options:

  • I don’t need IP
You receive a non-exclusive license for research purposes only. Zymvol owns the IP and may offer or license this technology to other parties.
  • I want the IP
You may choose from several different options to secure a full, exclusive commercial license to use, make, and sell your Zymvol enzyme.
  • I’m not sure yet
You can secure an exclusive, time-bound option to acquire a commercial license. Zymvol may not offer or license the project IP to any third party during the agreed-upon time period.
